Pigeon Pages is a literary space where emerging and established writers from all backgrounds are encouraged to nest together. We seek to champion voices that are not always allowed to sing loudly.

We promote creativity as an act of joy and social justice, not ego. We prioritize inclusion, intersectionality, and community. We love to uplift writers throughout their literary careers. We believe art is vital in all mediums and showcase this by pairing our published pieces with the creations of modern, working artists. We are proud our team is exclusively made up of folks identifying as women, non-binary, and / or LGBTQIA. We are independent and so are beholden to no one. Our literary world is no place for preening. Also, we love a pun.

PIGEON PAGES SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES
We want to be carried away on the wings of your work whether it's fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction.

Rather than having you send work through an antiquated method (like carrier pigeon) we have moved to Submittable. This site allows us to keep better track of your pieces so that we're not hunting for breadcrumbs in our emails. It also allows you to follow the flight pattern of your submission from "received" to "in process" and hopefully to "accepted".

Here are our Dos and Don'ts to help you rise in the pecking order of the general submissions:

DO submit pieces of prose that are 4,000 words or less and no more than 10 pages of poetry

DON'T email us your piece—we review submissions only through Submittable 

DO let us know if the piece you submitted to us has been accepted for publication elsewhere

DON'T send us work that has been previously published anywhere (blogs included)

DO wait to hear from us about a piece before submitting to us again. Once you have been published, please wait 1 year to submit again

DON'T forget your page numbers and word count or send us work riddled with typos and grammatical errors

DO send us work you're excited about

We are currently accepting prose submissions in both fiction and creative nonfiction that are 4,000 words or less.

We are currently accepting poetry submissions. Please submit up to 5 poems that are cumulatively no more than 10 pages. We are seeking poems that are attentive to the architecture and texture of the piece, poems that are honest and daring, and poems that can lay the underpinnings of strong craft without it being too obvious or showy. 

Contest guidelines are different from regular poetry submission guidelines. Please be sure to read the contest form thoroughly before submitting.

We do not take lightly the trust and support a writer shows by sending us their work. In return we want to take the time to fully consider each piece. We appreciate your patience to allow us to do that. (Although if you haven't heard a peep from us in twelve weeks, please feel free to get in touch.)
